We are delighted to be able to present this Theodore Roosevelt Nutcracker in time for the Teddy bear's centenary. The nutcracker personifies one of the most famous celebrities in American history: Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States of America.

Nicknamed "Teddy", President Roosevelt was an enthusiastic hunter. The story about the way in which he spared a bear cub during a bear hunt that had been organised especially for him became so popular in America that his name was given to the "Teddy bear". The nutcracker is presented on an elegant mahogany pedestal with a brass plate bearing his name.

His clothes reflect the fashion of the time, with a bowler hat on his head and the characteristic pince-nez perched on his nose. He is proudly carrying the "Stars and Stripes" banner of America in his right hand and a genuine Steiff Teddy bear is nestling in his left arm.
