The Nutcracker Suite

On the 24th of December, the Stahlbaum children were absolutely forbidden to go into the small family parlor - much less into the grand formal parlor - at any time and any reason. So, as the evening twilight fell, Frtiz and Marie sat huddled together in a corner of a back room.

A spooky feeling crept over them, for the room grew dark and, in accordance with the family Christmas tradition, no candles were lit. Fritz whispered to his little sister Marie, who had just turned seven, that since early that morning, he´d been hearing rattling and rustling sounds inside the forbidden parlors...
